SheetMagic is built with a simple privacy philosophy: we collect only what is necessary to provide the service, we do not sell your data, and we never store the content of your spreadsheet cells on our servers.
1. Who We Are
SheetMagic ("the Service") is operated by WellerDeveler ("we," "us," "our"). This Privacy Policy explains how we handle information when you use the SheetMagic Google Workspace add-on.

2. Information We Collect
We collect the minimum information necessary to operate the Service:

We do not collect browsing history, location data, contacts, calendar data, or any Google Workspace data beyond what you explicitly pass to an AI function formula.
3. How We Use Your Information
Information we collect is used solely to:
- Provide and operate the AI functions in your spreadsheet
- Enforce free tier limits (50 calls/day) and paid tier entitlements
- Validate license keys to unlock paid features
- Respond to support requests you initiate
- Improve the reliability and performance of the Service
We do not use your data for advertising, profiling, or any purpose unrelated to operating the Service.
4. AI Processing — OpenAI
Spreadsheet cell content that you pass to SheetMagic AI functions is transmitted to OpenAI's API for processing. OpenAI is our AI processing provider.
This means:
- Your cell content leaves your Google Sheet and is sent to OpenAI's servers
- OpenAI processes the content and returns a result
- We do not retain a copy of the content or the result on our own servers
- OpenAI's handling of your data is governed by OpenAI's Privacy Policy
Do not submit sensitive personal data (health records, financial account numbers, passwords, confidential legal matter details, or personal information of third parties) through SheetMagic AI functions.
5. Data Sharing and Third Parties
We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal data to any third party.
We may share data only in these limited circumstances:
- OpenAI — cell content you submit to AI functions, as described in Section 4
- Gumroad — license key validation for paid subscribers (limited to key verification; we receive confirmation of validity, not payment details)
- Legal requirements — if required by law, court order, or governmental authority
- Business transfer — if WellerDeveler is acquired or merged, data may transfer to the successor entity, subject to equivalent privacy protections
6. Cookies and Local Storage
SheetMagic does not set browser cookies. The add-on uses Google Apps Script's UserProperties service (stored in your Google account) to cache:
- Your usage count for the current billing period
- Your license validation status (cached for 24 hours to reduce API calls)
- Temporary result caches (to avoid redundant AI calls for identical inputs; 6-hour TTL)
These are stored locally within your Google account's Apps Script storage and are not accessible to us or third parties.
7. Data Retention
We retain your email address and associated plan tier for as long as your account is active. Usage counts are reset monthly.
If you uninstall SheetMagic, UserProperties stored in your Google account are cleared automatically. You may also request deletion of any account-level data we hold by emailing kevcweller@gmail.com.
8. Your Rights (GDPR and California)
If you are located in the European Economic Area, United Kingdom, or California, you have the following rights regarding your personal data:
- Access: Request a copy of the personal data we hold about you
- Correction: Request correction of inaccurate data
- Deletion: Request deletion of your personal data ("right to be forgotten")
- Portability: Request your data in a portable format
- Objection: Object to processing of your personal data
- Withdrawal of consent: Withdraw consent at any time by uninstalling the add-on

We do not knowingly collect data from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided data through the Service, contact us immediately.
9. Data Security
We implement reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect your information, including:
- HTTPS encryption for all data in transit
- Limiting access to personal data to personnel who need it to operate the Service
- No persistent storage of spreadsheet cell content
No method of electronic transmission or storage is 100% secure. We cannot guarantee absolute security but commit to promptly notifying affected users of any data breach that poses significant risk.
10. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of material changes by updating the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. For significant changes, we will also notify active users by email where feasible.
